We spend so much time thinking and planning for tomorrow we miss the opportunity to enjoy today.
The Word of God
Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. (Matthew 6:33-34, The Message)
Today’s reading: Isaiah 44-48
Really Busy: Isaiah 44-45
This Weekend: Isaiah 49-51
In Luke 12 Jesus tells a story of a young man who so busy gathering wealth for tomorrow that he forgot about enjoying today. As he was making plans to enjoy his retirement, Jesus said, “You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get it all? Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.” (Luke 12:20-21, NLT).
So many of us are so busy thinking about and planning for tomorrow that we forget to enjoy the gift of today. I encourage you to take some time today for a walk to enjoy God’s creation. Find some time for your children, a friend, your spouse and enjoy their company. One of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves and others is to live our lives in such a way that if today was our last day on this earth we would have no unfinished business.
God’s richest blessings on your journey and Be There!
